A meeting point for artists and experts on the international photography scene
As part of the opening weekend of the 5th Fotofestival Mannheim_Ludwigshafen_Heidelsberg we are presenting, on
13 and 14 September 2013 with the Portfolio Review, one of the highlights of our Festival programme!
The Portfolio Review offers the opportunity of focused dialogue between photographers and selected photography experts and is aimed at students in higher semesters, art school graduates, and freelance artists and photographers.
During three 20-minute individual consultations, participants will show their portfolios to curators, publishers, gallery owners and art critics. These consultations offer the opportunity to receive feedback and new impetuses and to generate important contacts for continued development.
Magnum photographer Abbas invites participants to his portfolio review on Saturday, 14 September 2013 at the Heidelberger Kunstverein. Ten participants will have the opportunity, for two hours, to discuss their works with Abbas in the group. Abbas will then conduct a guided tour of the exhibition Ausstellung
battle ground / Afghanistan at the Heidelberger Kunstverein.
After the consultations the reviewers will nominate their favourites. Participants who are thus nominated, and their works, will be presented on our Festival homepage in our virtual gallery. In addition, three favourites will be chosen, who will be able to show their works in an exhibition of their own in
Einraumhaus c/o in Mannheim. We want to enable our first winner to participate in a Magnum Photos workshop at the end of the year in Paris. The Fotofestival will provide a travel allowance of 200 Euros.
