5th FOTOFESTIVAL: THE ANALYSIS

With Grenzgänge. Magnum: Trans-Territories the Festival's curator Andréa Holzherr presented the biggest overview of Magnum photography in Germany to date. In total, 43,000 visitors saw the exhibitions and took part in the more than 190 events in the supporting programme - thus setting a new record in terms of visitor numbers. The curatorial concept - to bring the photographs into a dialogue with other artistic works - successfully helped to cut across boundaries between media within the Festival exhibitions and was positively appraised by visitors and the press. Top marks are also awarded to the Festival by the visitor feedback analysis, which was performed for the first time. The suggestions and proposals arising from the interviews will help us, when planning the Festival in the future, to take account of our audience's interests as well, alongside the curatorial decisions.
