LAUNCH OF THE 5TH FOTOFESTIVALThe countdown's on: this Friday, 13 September at 7 pm sees the opening of the 5 th Fotofestival. We're looking forward to you coming! The opening evening will be rounded off from 9.30 p.m. with a party at Kunstverein Ludwigshafen, to which we very cordially invite you. You will find the full opening programme athttp://www.fotofestival.info/en/opening/. CO-OPERATION WITH ZEITMAGAZINTo mark the opening of the Fotofestival you will also receive at Wilhelm-Hack-Museum Ludwigshafen the current issue of ZEITmagazin, which will be published on 12 September and is a photography special. Inside, the results of the project Deutschlandreise, a co-operation between the agencies Magnum Photos and FOCUS, ZEITmagazin and the Fotofestival, will be published for the first time. The four Magnum photographers Olivia Arthur, Peter van Agtmael, Paolo Pellegrin and Moises Saman have dealt with the question of how Germany looks in election year 2013. In winter and spring 2013 they travelled through various regions of the Federal Republic in order to record their personal image of this country and its inhabitants. The Fotofestival is showing these works at ZEPHYR - Raum für Fotografie der Reiss-Engelhorn-Museen in Mannheim. At this exhibition venue and at the Festival-Info-Point at Stadtgalerie Mannheim, ZEITmagazin will be on display from 12 September throughout the Festival period. We are delighted over the co-operation with ZEITmagazin.CATALOGUE FOR THE 5 TH FOTOFESTIVALThe opening simultaneously offers the chance to take a direct look at the catalogue for the 5th Fotofestival, published that day. It can be purchased at all participating exhibition venues for € 20. Festival curator Andréa Holzherr describes the exhibition concepts here, while continuing texts by Heide Häusler, Thomas Röske and Susanne Weiß provide an introduction to the artistic works on show. In addition, the catalogue with its numerous illustrations documents the diversity of the legendary agency Magnum Photos. We thank Susann El Salamoni and Frank Hoffmann from Raum Mannheim - Büro für visuelle Kommunikation for the artwork as well as Kehrer Verlag.
We are now taking catalogue orders at info@fotofestival.info (plus 4 Euro shipping costs).
BOOK BUSOn the opening weekend the Kehrer Verlag Book Bus will accompany the Fotofestival from event to event and present various publications by the Magnum photographers. In addition, on Sunday, 15 September from 2 p.m. there will be a Book Signing with Thomas Hoepker, the former Magnum president and patron of the Fotofestival, outside Kunsthalle Mannheim.
Many regards from the Festival office,
